About
I'm a software engineer in Birmingham, Alabama. Through my company, Right Path Programming, I've helped dozens of founders and small businesses turn an idea into a shipped mobile or web app. I take a project through every stage: working out the idea, prototyping, building the app, releasing it on the App Store and Google Play or the web, and supporting it after launch.
Before this I spent five years at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama building web apps for the GroupAccess portal. In 2021 I cofounded Mealvana, where I'm still the CTO. We make meal-planning apps for endurance athletes, shaped by more than 100 interviews with coaches and dietitians.
I studied philosophy at Duke, then computer science at Georgia Tech. I volunteer with Birmingham AI.

Projects
Mealvana Endurance
Fueling plans for runners, cyclists, and triathletes: what to eat before, during, and after a race.
I lead the engineering. I built Vana, a multi-agent system for athlete nutrition. Its agents handle race-day fueling, meal selection, general advice, and feedback. It recalls what each athlete has told it and finds recipes through pgvector embeddings. The app took shape over 100+ interviews with coaches and dietitians.

Let's Go Birmingham
BetaA curated events marketplace for Birmingham, for the people who put events on and the people looking for one.
I built it and run it. An LLM pipeline scrapes events from other sites, filters out noise and spam, and helps organizers write stories and features. A recommendation model ranks events for each visitor from their preferences and what they browse.

Simple Food Log
Coming soonA privacy-first iOS food journal for people in eating-disorder recovery.
I built it in Flutter. You log a meal with a photo or your voice and an LLM writes the entry, with guardrails that keep calories and macros out of sight. The log exports as a PDF report to share with your care providers.

Gradus
In developmentA tutor for harmony, counterpoint, and composition.
I'm building it as a LangGraph agent. It tracks what a student has and hasn't mastered, picks the next exercise from Beethoven and Mozart scores annotated by experts, answers questions, and grades the work. I evaluated and fine-tuned an open-source music analysis model against hundreds of human-annotated scores.

Mealvana
Meal plans and shopping lists that learn what your household likes to eat.
I cofounded Mealvana and built the app in Flutter. It plans the week's meals from your preferences and turns the plan into a shopping list.

Also built Birmingham Shambhala, UUCB, Mealplan.com, and BCBS GroupAccess.
